Targeting the Taylor/Rehobeth area of Houston County, Alabama, Taylor Presbyterian Church is a PCA church plant.

Our Mission

Taylor Presbyterian Church exists to

follow Jesus,

grow together as his church,

reach the community,

and multiply churches.

“It is God who gives the growth” (1 Cor 3:7)

We long to see a regional church planting ministry begun in Taylor & Rehobeth where people of all walks of life are being reached for Christ, renewed in Christ, and shepherded to serve in His Kingdom. Matthew 9:36-38 states, “When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.’ “

Our hope is to see new Gospel work where sinners find the Shepherd of their souls in Christ alone and then overflow in Christ-centered worship, in “one-anothering” community, and on His mission to engage this whole area with the Gospel of the Kingdom. We especially desire to seek and to save the lost & to labor for their growth.

Our Vision

The Church Plant will target the Southwest corridor of Houston County, AL in the Taylor/Rehobeth/Malvern area. We desire to be a Christ-centered, gospel preaching, disciple-making, outreach oriented Reformed and Presbyterian Church (PCA), with a desire to plant more churches in the Wiregrass region. We aim to reach nonbelievers and grow believers with the beautiful, life-transforming gospel of Jesus Christ. Our approach will be biblical, simple and relational—filled with grace and truth by the power of the Spirit.

Our Values

  • The Kingdom of God is always moving forward, either through us or despite us. Our desire is to be actively involved in moving forward God’s Kingdom on this earth. As such, prayer will be the heart and engine of the church. Everything we plan and do will be immersed in kingdom-centered prayer. We will lead regular prayer gatherings focused on praying “thy kingdom come, thy will be done.” We yearn for, expect and anticipate the church being full of folks from varying backgrounds: race, age, ethnicity, culture, socio-economic, etc.

  • The Person and work of Jesus Christ is the Centerpiece of the Church. Our worship will be focused solely on proclaiming and worshiping our risen Lord Jesus. The following are marks of our worship: biblical, simple, robust and joyful. Lastly, we will encourage and equip folks in personal worship and family worship.

  • Our posture toward outsiders seeks to be warm and welcoming at all times. We are eager to greet, befriend and invite all types of folks from various backgrounds. This includes intentional invitations to coffee, to a meal, into our homes, to our community group, to our worship. It is essential that all members of the church (not just leaders) seek to faithfully live this out.

  • A natural fruit of the gospel is loving one another and growing in gospel community. We aim to grow together by spending time with one another outside of formal events. This looks like living life together through sharing meals in homes and accompanying one another in ordinary life events.

  • When one becomes a believer and commits to the church we will enfold them into corporate worship, community groups and discipleship small groups. We seek to see each person grow in maturity in Christ and give away what they’ve been given.

  • We aim to reach people where we live, work and play. Prayer will undergird all of our efforts, as we seek to have a faithful presence at community events in Taylor, seek to serve Rehobeth School system and support local leaders. We will train folks to pray for, anticipate and press into open doors—giving them simple tools to aid their intentional, relational approach. Additionally, we will seek to show mercy to the poor, love & care to the widows, orphans, persons with disabilities and immigrants in our area. We look for where our Heavenly Father is already at work and join him in that work of redemption and restoration.

  • The church exists to multiply and fill the earth with redeemed image bearers of Almighty God, our Creator and Redeemer. With that goal in mind we aim to plant more churches in the Wiregrass area. Therefore, we seek to plant a new church every 5 years—moving westward across Geneva County into Covington County and southward into the Florida panhandle.

  • Because God’s eye has been on saving people from all nations from the beginning we will seek to encourage, challenge, support and send short-term missions teams and long-term missionaries to all areas of the globe.
